ABOUT

US

Anyone inside or outside the East Valley area that wish to and has a passion to help are encouraged to attend one of our meetings to see what we are all about. We are a not-for-profit organization created with the primary goal of bringing back the tradition of the yearly Moxee Hop Festival, held the first full weekend in August. The profits from the Moxee Hop Festival are then put back into the East Valley Community by supporting local events and making donations.

  • MEETINGS

Monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise posted on the Moxee City Hall reader board. Meetings are held at Moxee City Hall and start at 6 pm. Please check our Moxee Hop Festival/EVCEA Facebook page as sometimes we begin our meetings a bit later or may have more than one meeting a month.  Meetings are conducted by the EVCEA board.

Some of the ways we have given back to the community are :

  • East Valley Schools - donated monies to the election committees for both the bond and levy, and the Crystal Apple Award to honor local teachers

  • EVCEA Scholarships - we present two $2,000 scholarships each year to East Valley graduates

  • Easter Egg Hunt - held the Saturday before Easter in the Moxee City Park

  • 4th of July Kids Parade at Moxee City Park

  • Christmas Tree Lighting - each December we sponsor a tree lighting and visit with Santa

  • Christmas Parade ending with a visit with Santa, treats, and a kids stocking giveaway

  • MOXEE HOP FESTIVAL - A BIT OF HISTORY

In 1946, the Mayor called the business men together for the purpose of forming a Businessmen's Club. It was for developing and furthering the best interests of the city and the valley. They held dinner meetings at "Woody's Cafe" in town. After three or four meetings the project of a swimming pool was brought up by, Arthur Cain. The need and location for a city park was also decided. They felt the building of a swimming pool would be too much for just the few business people so other people in the community and various organizations were contacted. In 1947 the Moxee Commercial Club was formed and incorporated.
